Young person’s guide to systems change
“The future can’t be predicted, but it can be envisioned and brought lovingly into being. Systems can’t be controlled, but they can be designed and redesigned”. – Donella Meadows
A COLLABORATIVE AND ADAPTIVE APPROACH TO LEARNING
Through this free education and leadership programme, we offer six online sessions designed as a pathway to develop the skills needed to understand and address complex issues.
In the first cohort, participants were invited to create a shared toolbox of adaptable knowledge strategies, tailored to diverse challenges.
Together, we cultivate leadership, foster adaptability and build a collaborative spirit for effective action within complex systems.

FROM LEARNING TO PRACTICE: SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME
Rooted in the Young person’s guide to systems change, we are creating pathways for young people to apply systems thinking in real-world contexts.
The Sustainable business internship programme, developed in collaboration with Sustainable Kenya and Strathmore University Business School, connects youth with small and growing businesses to support their sustainability journeys.
Through this initiative, participants move beyond theory and into practice — applying systems thinking tools to analyse challenges, identify opportunities and contribute to meaningful change within organisations.
How it works
The programme begins with a short training in systems thinking and business analysis, grounded in the Young person’s guide to systems change and adapted to local contexts.
Participants are then matched with businesses, where they support sustainability assessments and help implement practical improvements over a two-month internship period.
Throughout the experience, they take part in ongoing learning sessions and receive mentorship, strengthening both their analytical and leadership capacities.
This programme bridges the gap between learning and action. It supports young people in developing real-world skills for the green economy, while helping businesses improve their sustainability practices through fresh perspectives and increased capacity.
